For the next 365 days I will take a picture of myself. Each day/picture will have a part of my body in it. I am looking forward to this challenge and being able to see myself and body in a new light. I am hoping for grow as an artist and a person.

I postpone death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by losing. -Anais Nin
I had to use an Anais quote today, on her birthday. Thank you for all the inspiration you have given me over the years ♥

A tattoo is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye.  As a tattoo is grounded on living skin, so its essence emotes a poignancy unique to the mortal human condition.  ~V. Vale and Andrea Juno, Modern Primitives

What a gorgeous day here in Richmond! Just what my soul needed. Here we have dirty finger nails from an afternoon of playing/working in the garden and the "fur" from a milk weed pod blowing in the wind.

This morning was spent with 2 very lovely women getting pretty and taking pictures. This is just one I snapped off of myself. There will be many more to come ♥

Kitten cuddles are very comforting to me. I used to fall asleep with my face buried in cats fur listening to her purr.

Today is a sick day. My girls and I all have head colds. Mine seems to be the worst (I had a fever all last night). This has been a bad winter, illness wise, for us. I rarely get sick. Anyway, today will be devoted to tea, rest, the neti pot and the chiro tomorrow!

Yesterday afternoon, Nick, the girls and I were invited to celebrate Vietnamese New Year with our friend Nena and her family in their home. There was an alter set up for the deceased and I brought a picture of my Grandma (for those of you who don’t know me all that well, she was like a second mother to me) to place upon it.

The Vietnamese believe that their deceased ancestors will visit the family for the holiday. Alters are decorated in the homes with incense, flowers, and photographs of deceased relatives. A tray full of fruit, coins, and a tall vase of blossoms are placed in front of the alter symbolizing good luck and prosperity”

Nena came up to me while I placing my Grandma’s picture on the alter and told me about her beloved deceased relatives and the ritual. I felt my tears coming, as her words were so full of love, comforting and true to my soul. I will never forget this day and the words that she spoke to me.
